In today's Phillies vs. Nationals game, Chase Utley left with a broken hand.

According to the Associated Press, "Utley was hit in the fifth inning by John Lannan, who was making his major league debut. Utley finished the game, going 2-for-4, but X-rays afterward showed he broke a bone in the hand... Utley, batting .336 with 17 homers and 82 RBIs, didn't think he'd be sidelined for a month." In the meantime, Abraham Nunez is expected to take over a second base for Philly.

Yep, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, Phils. He's supposed to meet with a doctor today and they're going to figure out what to do treatment/rehab wise.

Yeah, I've been watching the local news! He was funny with the reporters after the game.

They were acting like his career was over! At least he kept a sense of humor about it. The team facies a tough challenge without him, but I'm hopeful we can keep things going. He will take some time to get back into it when he comes back, so they are gonna just have to play their best, and see what happens. Seems that it would be September before he would be back playing, and be what he was prior to the injury.

Three weeks wouldn't be bad. I don't have any illusions about the Phils winning a World Series, but I do like to watch them, and I think they could make a wild card, and even win the division, with the right breaks!

No pun intended. We shall see! I'm going to see them play the Braves on Aug 12th, sucks he won't be playing then.

The AP is reporting that Utley may return to the lineup sometime next week.
