There's been some debate as to whether the Philadelphia Phillies have been overusing closer Brett Myers. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, "Myers threw a perfect ninth inning last night in a 6-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers at Citizens Bank Park. It was his 15th relief appearance in 28 games since he left the rotation for the bullpen. It also was his third appearance in three days." He says he's fine and doesn't feel overworked, but is there any concern about whether or not he can keep up this kind of pace over the rest of the season?

I think he is fine now. Velocity is still there. He did not pitch Thurs nite. Was surprised though to see him in the Wed game up 6-2. Overall he looks good. Only drawback is it leaves us without a "power" starter. Garcia does not seem the same as he has been in the past, but Hamels and Moyer both have been great.

They're calling the injury a strained shoulder, and it looks like he might return to Philadelphia for further examination. "It should be all right," Myers told the Associated Press yesterday. "I don't think it popped or tore. If it did, I wouldn't have any strength in it, but I have strength in it."
