Cool Ryan Howard Spring Training

Ryan Howard is picking up where he left off this Spring. Through March 12th he is batting .464 with 6 homeruns. Hopefully he doen't leave it all behind this spring.

Re: Ryan Howard Spring Training

I don't expect that to be the case. Howard is a beast. I'm glad to see the Phillies didn't blow it as far as he is concerned.

He'll make the fans forget about Jim "The K" Thome. I expect 40 + HR this season.

Not a sleeper, but still a darn good pickup if you can get him!

Re: Ryan Howard Spring Training

He'll probably go in the mid-latesingle rounds. I'd say if he's still on the board by the 6th-8th rounds, you should snatch him up in a heartbeat.

Re: Ryan Howard Spring Training

Funny that he's having such a good spring, considering the fact that he recently told the Philadelphia Inquirer that he was still "tweaking" his swing, and according to PhillyBurbs.com he says he "hasn't felt comfortable at the plate all spring."

How good can Howard be once he gets it all together?

Re: Ryan Howard Spring Training

Great article on Howard by Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports. In it, Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins calls Howard "scary" and compares his ability to hit the really long longball to the likes of McGwire, Bonds, Pujols and Ortiz. Of course, he did strike out 100 times last season too. Still, the kid looks like the real deal.

The whole story can be seen over at http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_yl...yhoo&type=lgns

I snagged him in round 7. I'll be curious if he pans out.

I also gambled on Thome in the 15th round. I'm expecting a comeback of sorts.

Bot 6th: Philadelphia
- R. Howard homered to deep left
