sSammy Kapanen Retires.

Welcome to Comcast SportsNet

Thanks for the hard work here, and best of luck to him in the future.

He didn't score a lot of goals this year, but he was a big help to this team.

This was a bit unexpected.

yeah, just 35 - maybe he wants to go home.
no injuries or longstanding physical problem he's been dealing with?

Re: Sammy Kapanen Retires.

Nothing out of the ordinary.

He was a 4th liner for us now, and in an interview, Kimo Timonen said he had spoken with him, and that Sammy wasn't really happy in that role, and that he just seemed ready to go home and play for a team over in Finland.

Sammy was a two time All Star. Although he never complained, I guess he didn't want to play in the NHL as a 4th line player.

To hear the short interview, just click on that link, then go down to multimedia on the right hand side, about halfway down.

Re: sSammy Kapanen Retires.

makes sense - he goes back across the ocean and he's a Super Star again.
Or he starts coaching.

Re: sSammy Kapanen Retires.

Yep.

He'll be missed on the team. He was a guy that just did what he was asked, and showed that he was a tough player in how he played.

He wasn't a fighter, but that doesn't always make you a tough guy in my book. He played hurt, he did what it took, and he just seemed to be a real team guy.

I wish him the very best of luck back home.
