OK, foil up boys, time to play rough

Seems it's time for the Flyers to foil up like in Slap Shot, and bring it to the Canadiens tonight.

I'm so jacked up for this game, I'm breaking out the archives.

We wanna play dirty, well, the Flyers have a history of doing just that. The Canadiens are certainly more skilled, but if they wanna punch someone from behind, and attack our boys after the game is over, in our zone, as the Flyers go to celebrate with the goalie, I just have this to say.

The Flyers can still bring that physical game as well as anyone. Montreal just needs to play the game the way they are known for, and they will probably come out on top.

But if they wanna goon it up, then I just have this flashback as my response.

The storm is brewing in Philly, better take cover...

After getting, as usual, the majority of the penaltys, the Flyers are going to play tough, but smart, in period two, and begin the Thunder.

OK, great period two.

3-0 Flyers.

More of that in per 3 boys. No dumb penalites (well, no more anyway), and just play the same game. Don't let up.

Let's run these boys into the ground.

Well, a five minute major for building, and thrown out????

And not even a minor for the shove from behind after the whistle.

Anyone that has any illusions that this series is being called fair just had that flushed down the toilet.

But the score is all that matters.

And yes, Hatcher needed a major, but a game misconduct??

Whatever...

Great job Hatcher. If you weren't 6'5", I'd be driving up to Philly to kick your ass myself.

Why do Philly teams always shoot themselves in the foot??

That team was dead, and we gave em life....

I can never forget that cover! I have a reproduction framed and autographed by Bernie down in my basement!

And with folks still thinking the Flyers drag thier knuckles when the skate, I just had to do it!

This game had my heart in my throat in the 3rd!

Whew is all I can say!

Glad you liked the Foiling up reference! I still laugh at that movie! I know hockey fans find it as insulting as NASCAR fans find Days of Thunder, but I still have fun with it!

This belief that the world of hockey is against the Flyers - it's wearing thin.
Your goalie was the key last night - didn't matter what hatcher did. Your goalie was the rock that sat on Montreal.

Re: OK, foil up boys, time to play rough

I don't think the world of hockey is against the flyers, I just think the refs suck.

And that didn't deserve a game misconduct.

How often do you see that???

It's a double minor 99% of the time, and you know it. And ya can't deny the the Canadiens came back and knocked Hatcher down after the whislte. Hatchers hit caused the Whistle, then the same player he hit got up and hit him from behind. That was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay after the play was called dead.

That should have been a two minute roughing minor. Tell me honestly that is what you call clean hockey.

I can admit when my team does wrong, we need others to step up and do the same.

Re: OK, foil up boys, time to play rough

Who was the Flyer who gave halak a punch in the face as he skated by? For absolutely no reason but to be a jerk? Nice.
Flyers were sticking little jabs in everywhere and getting away with it. I don't hear you upset about those.
But I'm okay with it because like we've said - it happens all the time.
And like you said in another Philly thread - hatcher's an idiot and often makes dumb decisions.
Let's talk the hockey instead of the wronged calls. That 3rd period was amazing.

Re: OK, foil up boys, time to play rough

That was Richards, yet another call they missed, and the ref was looking right at it!!!!

Proves my point that NHL refs suck!
