Re: OK, foil up boys, time to play rough

it's not a good omen, is it? when Price gets pulled and biron is a wall less two goals (Habs did manage to pierce through, anyway).

Well they don't miss it. They help out the teams.
This series belongs to the Flyers I think. Danny Briere is on fire!

Re: OK, foil up boys, time to play rough

globesports.com: Flyers invoke their Bullies history to rev up the fans

The only thing I don't like here is the booing of the anthem. First I'd heard of it happening last night was in this article. The station that showed the game last night didn't show the anthems.

I find it disgusting, and indefensible.

Having said that, what do folks think of the rest of the article? Personally, I think it is a weak argument, that the Habs are wilting just from being here.

What utter trash.

God forbid we give this team credit for being better than most thought they were, including me.

And I really don't find Phillys hockey crowd to be that bad either.

Note the author said that folks were saying "spit on the fans".

However, no one did, at least not that was acknowledged here.

I get sick of the articles in every oppsing city and town talking about what a bunch of bullies the fans are. The fans don't play!!!!!

This crowd these days in the new place is tame and lame, compared to the old days. And teams actually played here without becoming human sacrifices.

Hard to beleive.

Are we to the point in sports now where the fans can't even cheer without being called neanderthals??

How about this article???

Beaten To the Punch

By the way, The members of Megadeth made a video saying we could be thier bodyguards anytime!

Folks that wonder why I think the entire hockey world is against the Flyers need to look no further than crap like this.

Cry me a river, opponents of the Flyers.

I know, fans should just sit on thier hands, and offer polite golf claps and say "cheerio" when the score.

Well folks, this ain't no white wine and caviar town, or area.

Hockey in this town means as much to us as any other place on this continent.

I offer an apology for the booing of the anthem, and for tossed beers and fans who feel the need to show too much of their vulgar vocabulary in front of children.

Anyone throwing things, cursing, or hurling racial insults should be given Zero tolerance and tossed form the place.

But most of these two articles are BS, and just a negative stereotype.

Dave Schultz Jerseys in the Stadium. Please.

Tell me these articles are what folks really think of this town.

The Washington Post was so ashamed of thier article, that when Philly was going to hand out copies to the fans here, the Washington post actually filed a court order to stop it.

Wow, how gutless is that?????

Why write it and not stand behind it??

Re: OK, foil up boys, time to play rough

I honestly believe fans are out of hand everywhere - at least part of every crowd.
Neanderthals exist in every hockey town.
I despise booing an anthem anywhere so yeah, that sucks. I totally think whoever does that is just classless.
The crazy thing is, so many of the players are Canadian and some a*****e in Philly is booing the Canadian anthem. What?
Fans have done that too, everywhere, not just Philly and it stinks.
I don't like the booing of a player constantly. I must admit, i've done it to Alfredsson as a leafs fan. i'm not defending it but I will say, he is the only player Leafs fans boo.
But Canadiens fans pick and choose. last time it was Chara for who knew what reason - he is a decent skilled player. now they are booing briere I think because he is French canadian and chose not to be a Hab. come on. Why boo him? be proud he's from here.
Sidebar on that - i read briere went to philly because he wanted to play with biron again - also a French canadian.
I'm sick of the booing, period.

Re: OK, foil up boys, time to play rough

Agreed. The booing just sucks. The US anthem gets boo'd the Canadian anthem, enough already.

Hello, we are as close as two countries get, and both have some European players as well, not just US and Canadian.

I think it was embarrassing that this crowd boo'd Ovechkin every time he touched the puck.

That is just plain stupid!

The only time I really gave another player a hard time was a Toronto series here, after, I think it was LeClair, was put out with an elbow.

Now him I gave an earful too during pre-game, since I was in thier end for that.

Rule one for sports fans.

Spend most of your time cheering your players, not booing others

Rule two:

No booing anthems, just plain stupid

Rule three

Go to games for the sport itself, if ya wanna get falling down drunk, don't do it in the stadium, and if ya do, don't try to be my best friend. I'm here for the game.

Other rules could be written here, but most should just be common sense.

Re: OK, foil up boys, time to play rough

I don't even know why they still bother with the anthems at the start of the game. It's just fodder for any disrespectful idiot wanting to cause a stir. Also, with the multiculturalism involved with hockey today, how much does it mean to hear the canadian anthem for say Kovalev or Antropov or Timmonen? Why don't we just have a two minute warning buzzer for the fans who are still relishing their drinks at the arena bar or bars. Picture them, rushing to their seats in drunken fervor tripping over obstacles along the way shouting, nay screaming OLE, OLE, OLE!

They sing the national anthem because it's a tradition in most sports and it is respecting USA and Canada.

Re: OK, foil up boys, time to play rough

I agree with that. It is tradition.

I just wish fans everywhere would get back to respecting it.

It's just garbage to disrespect another countries anthem.

I just needed to say, Sundin sings the Canadian anthem when it plays before a game.
Proof once again he is something else.

Yeah sure keep the anthems, fine with me. I was impressed with that rendition of God Bless America Monday night. That was quite a voice.
