Gagne done for the year...

And a trade. Read all about it. Not a good sign for the Flyers. I still think they will make the playoffs, but this is a big blow!

Gotta go watch the local sports show. I'll come back at 11 or so to check back!

Watch that game with Lupul getting injured? That was intended for ANOTHER player.
They also try to injure people on purpose. Flying bodies and all that. Boarding. There. Ya got me started.

Re: Gagne done for the year...

Losing gagne is disappointing, mostly because he could be such an integral part pf the game for Philly. Poor dude. He must feel like crap - these concussion injuries are tragic. Imagine headaches and dizziness all the time. How do you live let alone pay hockey?
Philly has some guys who made some questionable choices early in the season, but they are just a hard playing, hard hitting team-and never boring. It's the fans you've got to watch out for.
I'm glad Clarke is out of the picture (or is he ever out of the picture?)
Gagne was one of the classiest players on the team - i will miss him. I hope he comes back next season with all guns blasting.

Ya know, if you had a valid argument, I would debate with you. Hockey is a hard hitting game, and players get hurt.

If you had brought up the first 2 months of the season, when they were getting suspensions, I'd be willing to talk about that. They have really cleaned up their act since the early stages of the season.

You don't see me coming on here whining that players targeted Gagne, and that is why we lost him. And that would be because they didn't target him, the game just is what it is. And Stuff like this has always happened, and always will.

I have the stomach for a tough game. It always has been a tough, mans game, and always willl be.

Strap on the gear and bring it against the Flyers, or run home with your tail between your legs. Either way, your are gonnna be hit, and hit hard.

If you can't take seeing that, watch golf or figure skating.

By the way, you haven't given me an expample of cheating yet.

I'm waiting.

Thanks Blue. Clark is still on the staff of the team, I don't remember what title he holds. I think he is there so Snider can keep finding a way to keep him on the payroll.

And a legend in this town deserves it. I can't say I was a big fan of him as a GM, but he was sure my Hockey hero as a young guy. Having just turned 40, my intial memories of Hockey are the Broad Street Bullies, and the Flyers-Russia game. What a great time to be a Hockey fan.

I was born in 67, and that was the year the Flyers started! How perfect is that?? Seems I was born just to watch the game!

Re: Gagne done for the year...

I mean, I like Bobby Clarke for all he's done for hockey, and he was one of the great stars of our 72 win over the Russians.
Just with all the lindros stuff, etc. - i wondered if he treated his players right.
You were born the year of the last stanley cup won by the leafs.

So I may not be the best of luck for Toronto!

I think Clarke seems to be loved by the players. I have often heard new players talk about what a thrill it is to meet Clarkie, and to play for him.

The whole Lindros thing just got to be such a mess. If Lindros had it to do over again, I think the first thing he would do is NOT have his parents involved in his pro career. Big mistake. I think having his Dad for his agent was a mistake he just needed to fix, and never did.

Clarkie didn't handle things well either, but I think the straw that broke the camels back was just having to deal with Mommy and Daddy calling up and questioning him all the time.

Eric was a player I really liked, and I always wished him well, even after he left. Sometimes two people just don't get along. Even with the parents taking some of the blame, the bottom line is that the two of them needed to bet along better, and maybe that wouldn't have mattered.

I know that Clarkie has said he has regrets about how the Lindros situation got out of hand, and I know this city wanted things to be better as well.

Re: Gagne done for the year...

you explain it all in a very civilized manner - guess things got out of hand in the paper, creating monsters where there were none.
Clark does deserve respect - and lindros too - speaking of living with the side effects of concussions, he is suffering from more of them than any player i can think of. the potential to be great, to have a long successful career in the NHL was there.
that's what i think of with gagne - he has been great, but I wonder if this sidelines him for good.
he's so young, too-28.

Thanks! I hope I am typical of fans in the area. I know we all had a lot of faith in Eric, and I like to think he enjoyed his time here. I really thought it was cool for him to play with Messier on the Rangers, since Messier was his hockey hero! How cool would that me? That is something no one gets to do!

I'm hopeful that Gagne recovers from his injuries. It seems this team, and this league, for that matter, have really been hit hard with concussions.

Re: Gagne done for the year...

Boarding is cheating by the way. Flyers are filled with dirty players. Biron is dirty too lol.
They do intend to injure and not play a tough game. So if I were to walk up to someone in hockey and they have pads on, and I throw my body at them, will it be a tough game? No. Just me jumping and trying to kill the guy.
Hey, your just trying to defend your team, but got to be honest. Hey, if the Sabres became dirty and someone said they were, I'd go "Oh yea".

That is your opinion. I don't think you really have a point, other than to try and rile me up.

Whatever.

Re: Gagne done for the year...

What would be the point? I'm online I'm not a freak who stirrs things up online.
Ask around cities they will say they cheat. They are dirty.

I've been to games in Pittsburgh, DC, and LA, and talk to fans all the time when they come to town. Never heard they are any more dirty than any other team.

But go ahead and post something that contradicts that.

You could still give me an example of cheating first, since you brought it up. And don't give me boarding. That is just a penalty. That is why I say you are posting here just to stir up crap. Dirty is an opinion, and I can deal with that.

But you can't come up with one instance of cheating, because you don't have one.

What a ridiculous statement.
