| Ron Hextall to be inducted into Flyers Hall if Fame Tonight is the night. Not a surprise to me that he is getting in. He was not a perfect goalie, but he led the Flyers to game 7 vs the mighty Oilers of the 80's, and he presence on the ice was a bit of a change for a goalie, from his fights to his goals. Thank you Ron, for the great memories. Sam Donnellon: FLYERY DISPOSITION | Philadelphia Daily News | 02/06/2008 |

| Re: Ron Hextall to be inducted into Flyers Hall if Fame Yeah, Parent first...and I knew Pelle would come up...he had a Vezina Trophy...though his stats don't look all that great cause he played in an era of high scoring...still he was only in there a total of 157 games before he smashed that Porsche of his, I am tempted to take Hextall over him.

I would love to see that postion find some stabilty with this team, that has been a big issue. But we can debate that all day. I'm just glad to see Hextall get his due! |

| Re: Ron Hextall to be inducted into Flyers Hall if Fame Yes. Off the top of my head there are 1-Bernie Parent 4-Barry Ashbee, a member of the Flyers that passed away from cancer. He is a big part of why the Flyers carnival, and similar ones, exist today to raise money for Cancer. 7-Bill Barber 16-Bobby Clarke I think that is it. If anyone has a better memory than me, let me know who I missed. |

| Re: Ron Hextall to be inducted into Flyers Hall if Fame I just checked on wikipedia (not that i doubted you at all, just curious) and it said, speaking of pelle: the number 31 of goaltender Pelle Lindbergh (1981-86), was taken out of circulation after his death in November 1985 and is considered unofficially retired. do you feel there should be more numbers retired, like say leach? schultz (haha)? |

No on Hextal as well, although Downie doesn't deserve to wear it! And I'm glad no one wears the 31 of Lindberg. They used it in a commercial some years ago. I think it was Nike, when they had the crazy goaltenders, and it was not received well in Philly. They either pulled it, or re-shot it, I forget which one! | Re: Ron Hextall to be inducted into Flyers Hall if Fame Yeah, leafs just did the retirement of two numbers for two very tragic situations - other than that, they honour numbers, hang banners, but you can still wear them. I like the specially chosen few. It makes it that much more special. the habs are ridiculous with their retired numbers. I'm glad they pulled the commercial - very touchy spot for Nike to press. |

| Re: Ron Hextall to be inducted into Flyers Hall if Fame I think it was just an oversight on Nikes part. They didn't use his name, and they did pull the spot quickly. Thankfully. I noticed Montreal has a ton, when they the banners an such at the rink!! Too many in my opinion as well! |

| Re: Ron Hextall to be inducted into Flyers Hall if Fame Great stuff before the game tonite. They started with a video tribute, which had U2's "wild horses" song, and showed him making some great saves. Then it switched over to AC/DC's "If ya want Blood", and it got even better!!! They are going to do some more between the 1rst and 2nd!! I'll report back in for that one! |
