An ounce or two I could deal with but I just don't see it often enough. In the case I stated there was just no common sense imposed until it was way to late.

Which was wrong...I am not saying that the guilty should go free...only that the law is a standard often gray and in need of help from "good" judges and a good system...that is all?

Let him keep the money. They would have never won an NFC Championship without Owens and getting to the big dance is what it's all about. Besides, what kind of Bonus is it if you have to give it back? That's not a bonus but a condition!

Re: Eagles sue TO for bonus money

Law and order aside, if you tell somebody that if they do something they get a bonus and you stop them from being able to do it, how is that their fault?
Now I'll admit I didn't really keep up with TO before he went to the Cowboys. But I take it that since they want the money back, that means they had already given it to him. So how you gonna give somebody something and then sue to get it back saying they didn't deserve it? If he didn't deserve it, why did they give it to him?

Is it a bonus for signing or is it a bonus for signing and playing? Depends on the wording of the contract which I have no clue about. If its just for signing then I cant imagine why he should have to pay it back, but it was ruled he had to pay it. Maybe he figures he will do better in a court of law. Who knows?
I think that the law sometimes depends on who has the most money and the best lawyer. I have seen people get off too often who shouldnt have because of a lawyer or a "technicality" I think justice is indeed "blind" or at best only sees out of one eye at times.
Sometimes it seems justice would best be served if there was a bit of common sense. Other times it seems like justice would best be served if the law was followed to the letter. Maybe we need better laws (I know we need better laws)

Which really makes me wonder how and why contracts are written the way they are. All players should receive a base salary and then receive performance based bonuses. If A-Rod signs on and doesn't hit for crap the team as a whole loses. If there is an incentive to play better for more cash we may have more Cal Ripken's.
