It's only been 24 hours since the Philadelphia Eagles signed cornerback Asante Samuel, but they're already hearing from teams interested in trading for the cornerback Samuel replaced in the starting lineup.

Profootballtalk.com, citing league sources, reported several teams are showing preliminary interest in trading for cornerback Lito Sheppard. Those teams include the Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns, St. Louis Rams and New York Jets.

Sheppard would be an upgrade for just about anyone. Question... why aren't the Eagles keeping both? Gotta be a money thing, right?

Sheppard has been hurt on and off over the last two years. Plus he asked to have his contract re-done.... something the Eagles almost never do...ask T.O. The fact that he has ask for more money, but been hurt and missed games obviously has gotten management P.O. and when that happens in Philly you get shown the door. His injury history is what led them to get Samuels so if they can trade him for a pick or two then do it.

Still a shame. If he was healthy, could you imagine both Sheppard and Samuel patrolling the secondary? Scary.

Don't forget Sheldon Brown. Guy has only started every game for the last 4 yrs. While he has not made the Pro Bowl like Sheppard, he is damn good. Remember Al Harris was the #3 CB for the Birds and could not break into the line-up with Brown and Sheppard there. In todays game you need 3 CB.... however it is hard to pay all 3 equally. There was talk of trying to move one of them to SS and then Dawkins could slide to FS but will not happen
