Should Andy Reid be fired?

When asked by a reporter yesterday if he planned to remain on the job after a judge likened his home to a drug emporium, Eagles coach Andy Reid simply responded, "Yes." So clearly he has no intention on stepping down. Should he be fired?

Reid says he'll stay as Eagles coach despite judge's criticism - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

He should not be fired, but he needs to take a leave of absences and get his son's lives in order

Just to present a counter-argument: what if a player's house was raided and they found all these illegal drugs? They'd at least be suspended, if not released. Shouldn't Reid be sanctioned somehow, if not terminated, over this incident?

I see your point but, he didn't load up on the drugs and it's not like his kids are my age, they are adults who can make decsion, they just happen to make bad decisions

It's still his house. He's legally responsible for those drugs being there.

Re: Should Andy Reid be fired?

No, he should not be fired. He can not be held responsible for what his adult sons are doing. They are not involved with the Eagles at all. How could this have any impact on his job. I would not be fired from my job if my son brought drugs into the house.

I was going to say that he should take more time off to try to help them both, but they will be locked up for a while.

Re: Should Andy Reid be fired?

You mean to tell me, az, that if police raided YOUR home and found illegal drugs in it, that you couldn't be fired? Heck, how do we know for sure that the kids haven't just picked up their habits from the old man? I'm not accusing Reid of anything, but I think everyone's too quick to portray him as the innocent, doting father and a victim in all this. Lest we forget that he's already ignoring this judge's recommendations, or at least that's what it sounded like in his press conference.

I haven't voted yet. But to be honest, I don't think he should be fired BUT I think the NFL should suspend him, just as they would any player.

Cool Re: Should Andy Reid be fired?

He shouldn't be fired for the actions of his kid. And whether he wants to leave the team to tend to this stuff is totally his decision.

Re: Should Andy Reid be fired?

Guess I'm the only one here who doesn't want to let Andy Reid completely off the hook for having illegal drugs in his home, eh?

Only if it resulted in my missing work, or I tested dirty myself.

As far as any body knows, that is exaclty what he is. I can feel for the guy. I know first hand what he is going through. Someone in my family is struggling with alcohol addiction. Are you saying I should be fired or sanctioned because of some bad choices made by them. An addict is deceitful by nature. They will lie and sneak to get what they want. They will sneak what they want into their house to have it later. I can't tell you how many times I have found bottles hidden. I know you don't know me personally, but I don't think I should be fired because an addict hid his stash in my house.

If it comes out that he was supplying his sons with stuff, then throw him away. Until then, I think I know what he is going through a little.

If the substance is illegal, and police found it on your property, wouldn't you face some kind of repercussions - legal or otherwise? Of course you would.

Re: Should Andy Reid be fired?

Idont think he should be fired but I think the NFL should give him mandatory leave to gt things in order, theres no way he can concentrate on th eagles with reporters asking him questions about it 24/7 and everthing else..

I think this would be a grey area. I knnow it is illegal to have it in your house, but Reid can't inspect every package, every person, everything that comes into his house. If he had a harvest of weed in his gargage, sure throw the book at him, but his kids private stash would probably be looked on as something different.

I am going to have to read the report again. Maybe I missed something.
