Andy Reid illegal drugs

Andy Reid has been caught with illegal and prescription drugs throughout his home - so much so that a judge likened the Reid household to a "drug emporium". According to the Associated Press, Montgomery County Judge Steven O'Neill "said both boys had been overmedicated throughout much of their lives and that Britt got hooked on painkillers when he suffered a football injury in high school." Both of Reid's sons have been sentenced this week for seperate, drug-related incidents, but one has to wonder what getting caught with what appears to be a significant amount of illegal drugs means for the coach's career.

Re: Andy Reid illegal drugs

This is bad.
I remember when I heard about his sons' trouble, I felt sorry for him because kids can be so difficult sometimes. But now it looks like its Andy's fault.
It should hurt his career, I hope.

Woah there Bette, what are you saying about Andy Reid?

The Reid son's will hopefully get the medical help they need in prison and can begin to turn their lives around.

sounds like she may be saying, at the very least she cant believe that so many drugs were in the house and Andy knew nothing about it ...... cant say i disagree with that logic

i have to wonder, with all the money and resources Andy has, have his kids ever been to a good rehab ?

Re: Andy Reid illegal drugs

over medicated and prescription pain killers in high school? Who do you think paid for those prescriptions???? Andy had to know, and if he did, he should be the one going to prison. Not his kids. I see this more as a case of just sweeping it under the rug. Hope I am wrong.

You usually can get a counseling session for a pack of smokes in jail..

Re: Andy Reid illegal drugs

These two both have MAJOR issues that need to be addressed. They have huge drug problems. I agree with Bette that Andy had to know something was up. I think the sordid details of this are just going to get worse!

It sounds more or less like a drug emporium there with the drugs all over the house, and you're an addict," O'Neill told Britt Reid.
Police found a shotgun and hollow-point bullets along with cocaine, marijuana and OxyContin, a painkiller, in the vehicle Britt Reid was driving during a Jan. 30 road-rage encounter, and later found a handgun at the house that they believe he had brandished at the other driver.
They found vials of heroin and steroids, more than 200 pills and a drug scale in Garrett Reid's car the same day, when he injured another motorist.
This is more than casual drug abusers, they were selling the stuff too,#1 sign is they have guns, hello? theres signs everywhere this is going on, they had to know what was going on unless they have lived in a sheltered world all their life, im sure both parents are quite busy but thats no excuse, this isnt petty stuff either, Oxycontin is one of the strongest pills for pain on the market, they prescribe this stuff to burnt victims and serious back pain, add the cocaine, heroin, green leaf, and im sure they had other pills like xanax and Valium. They are beyond doped up, I dont see how Coach Reid can go on coaching without taking time off and getting his personal family life under control. His boys look like they will be spending a lot of time in prison..

Bette's basically saying the same thing the judge was saying, I would imagine. Reid is at the best an enabler and at the worst a co-conspirator in obtaining drugs for his two kids, and that they should most likely be removed from that environment. I think it's pretty clear that this proves Reid has a hand in all of this. Like they asked on ESPN yesterday, if this was a player's home who was raided, and all these illegal drugs found, what would the NFL do? Well, nothing should change just because we're talking about a coach instead.

Re: Andy Reid illegal drugs

Did he know his home was filled with the illegal drugs? I don't know. But I don't think he was aware his kids were dealing.

They're not even kids anymore, they're adults.

Here is a select qoute from a Phily paper today. Note he calls where he lives, "the hood". I could just laugh at that. He sold drugs to other rich kids. The only thing he know about the hood is what he see's on TV. I also question how sincere his desire to turn things around is.

" 'I liked being the rich kid in that area and having my own high-status life,' " O'Neill quoted Garrett as saying. " 'I could go anywhere in the 'hood. They all knew who I was. I enjoyed it. I liked being a drug dealer.' "
Garrett also said that drugs were everywhere on the Main Line and that selling them there made him feel powerful, according to the report.
" 'These kids were scared of me,' " O'Neill quoted Garrett as saying. " 'I was even selling to their parents . . . I turned everyone on to Oxycontin.' "
When O'Neill finished reading from the report, he looked up and said, "As a judge, that scares the hell out of me."
Garrett explained it was just a "phase" - one that he is far beyond.
"Yeah, I did get a thrill out of it . . . I'm not going to sit here and lie to you," Garrett said yesterday about his drug-dealing days.
"That's not me today. I'm older, wiser," he said, adding that he now sees the "negative" side of a world he once thought of as "glamorous."
"I sold drugs when I didn't have a habit," Garrett said. "Now I have a habit and I don't sell drugs . . . I've seen what [drugs] can do and what it's done to my life. I'm not the same person."
Garrett said he is at the point in his life at which he doesn't "want to die doing drugs."
"I don't want to be that kid who was the son of the head coach of the Eagles, who was spoiled and on drugs and OD'd and just faded into oblivion," Garrett said.
