Eagles Patriots Super Bowl cheating?

Interesting Associated Press article running over at Yahoo! Sports right now.

According to the article, "After the Patriots beat the Eagles 24-21 in 2005 to win the Lombardi Trophy, [Eagles DB Sheldon] Brown thought the Patriots beat them with nothing but sharp offensive playcalling. Now, he's not so sure... With spying accusations leveled this week against the Patriots, some of the Eagles left from the NFC title team are wondering if New England used bootleg film to their advantage in the Super Bowl." What do you think? It's certainly possible, isn't it?

You're right, there's no way to tell. But it is interesting to see these guys react and wonder about this. I mean, let's face it - there's at least a slight chance that the Eagles were cheated out of a Super Bowl title. Every little thing is going to start causing suspicion among former and future opponents.

Probably now everyone is going to say things like that and they knew something wasnt right all along. Maybe, maybe not.
If the Pats start getting beat defensively from now on, then maybe we can say we have reason to believe that that was so.
Otherwise, I dont think we will ever know.

Re: Eagles Patriots Super Bowl cheating?

Maybe I just don't understand the rules for this, but exactly how is this cheating. If I understand, he was taping the opposing teams to try and steal their defensive signs??? How is this different from watching tape and seeing how they line up in different situations. I thought this was happening all along. That is why head coaches block their faces when they talk and they use hand signals in the first place. How is this any different from a baserunner trying to steal the signs from the catcher in baseball?? Maybe others are stricter than I am, but I don't see how this warranted that big of a fine.

Look at Belichik before he came to New England. He was nothing special as a coach. Then, BOOM, he is now considered to be one of the best. Plus the rumor in NY is that he has aquired copies of other teams playbooks. Now that may just be sour grapes but it does make you start to wonder.
