McNabb: Westbrook a 2,000-yard rusher

Donovan McNabb has grandiose visions of what the future might hold for Brian Westbrook. "I could see him as a 2,000-yard rusher," he said. "I also see him as a guy who could probably have about 2,500 to 2,700 yards of total offense." That means McNabb also can see a league MVP award for Westbrook. -- Philadelphia Inquirer

Re: McNabb: Westbrook a 2,000-yard rusher

Perhaps he should talk with Andy Reid if he thinks Westbrook could be a 2k rusher. They never give him the ball as much as it would take to get those yards.

Hell, Ladell Betts had more carries than Westbrook last year.

Last year, Westbrook was 21st in the NFL in rushing attempts.

Maybe that's what McNabb's getting at?

He knows Westbrook can put up these numbers if given enough of a chance to do so. Yep, sounds like a message to his coach to me, alright.

love Westbrook...but no way in hell he can take the beating it takes to get 400 touches and gain the 2,000 yards etc...he is brittle...

I agree and disagree. He is not brittle. Guy has missed 10 games in 5 years. That is not brittle in my book. Buckholder is brittle. I just think that to get the number of touches each game to get 2000 yds would wear him down, so by seasons end he would be ineffective.

Yeah, it takes a special kind of back to take 400 touches in a year. Look at how concerned everyone was about Larry Johnson and his workload last year, and nothing against Westbrook (I like the guy) but he's nowhere near as hearty as a guy like LJ.

Re: McNabb: Westbrook a 2,000-yard rusher

He may not get to be the 2000 yd rusher that McNabb predicted, but I bet Reid uses him a lot more than in the past. He proved last year if they run him they will win. With McNabb coming off the injury, they may need him to carry more of the workload.

I guess it depends on how you define "brittle" but that is splitting hairs. We both agree 400 touches is more then can be expected of him. I don't think we will see more of him this year though. I think we will see a lot of Tony Hunt to keep Westbrook fresh.
