2006 Philadelphia Eagles schedule

Holy Ron Jaworski, Batman! Have you seen the Eagles' schedule this year? It's relatively puff through the autumn and then, bam. The Wall.

After playing in Indy on November 26, the Eagles host Carolina – seemingly the early prohibitive favorite to take the NFC – on December 4. Philly then play away games against Washington, the New York Giants, and Dallas in consecutive weeks (December 10, 17, and Christmas). The Falcons then come to town, conceivably to put either kind of cap on a five-game losing streak.

I don't know if it's going to be a long year for Eagles fans, but i do know it'll be a long long December.

Cheers, all!

Re: 2006 Philadelphia Eagles schedule

For those who haven't seen it, here's Philly's week by week schedule:

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
-------------------

SEP. 10 at Houston 1:00
SEP. 17 NY GIANTS 1:00
SEP. 24 at San Francisco 4:15
OCT. 2 GREEN BAY 8:30 (Mon.)
OCT. 8 DALLAS 4:15
OCT. 15 at New Orleans 1:00
OCT. 22 at Tampa Bay 1:00
OCT. 29 JACKSONVILLE 1:00
NOV. 5 Bye
NOV. 12 WASHINGTON 1:00
NOV. 19 TENNESSEE 1:00
NOV. 26 at Indianapolis 1:00
DEC. 4 CAROLINA 8:30 (Mon.)
DEC. 10 at Washington 1:00
DEC. 17 at Ny Giants 1:00
DEC. 25 at Dallas 5:00 (Mon.)
DEC. 31 ATLANTA 1:00

I see what you mean, Os. Houston and San Fran in 2 of the first 3 weeks, and Green Bay and New Orleans by week six. Could be 5-1 by that point. Likewise, that stretch run in late Nov. / early Dec. could be a real killer, depending on how those road division games turn out. Could possibly be a 1-5 or 0-6 finish there.

The way i'm looking at it -- even putting aside my opinions on the decline of Donovan McNabb and the Eagles in general -- Philly is pretty much guaranteed a 2-4 finish, and i'm figuring one of those wins to be the final game against Atlanta.

This is the NFC East after all, and i believe that this has been the most competitive bloody-minded division football since it had five teams. The teams truly hate each other in a way the Browns/Benglas or San Diego/KC don't. My friend who's a Washington fan still laments the year the Cowboys went 1-15 with their sole win coming against his team.

Whoever scheduled that five game stretch (Indy, Carolina and three division mates) has it in for the Eagles. Either that or the NFL wants to give the appearance of Eagle competitiveness for the season's first half -- sort of the reverse of what happened with the Pats' schedule last year when the New Englanders had to take on six monsters to start the season.

Cheers.
