Could the Eagles be looking at dealing QB Donovan McNabb to Chicago for LB Lance Briggs?

That's the rumor, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer and Yahoo! Sports.

Was the recent drafting of quarterback Kevin Kolb a sign that the Philadelphia Eagles might trade Donovan McNabb before the 2007 season?

That's one theory, anyway. As for a possible destination, the Chicago Bears are ready to win the Super Bowl. They might have won it last year except for a glaring weakness at quarterback.

The key to this scenario is Bears linebacker Lance Briggs, who has said publicly that he will never play for Chicago again and who refused to report to minicamp on Friday.

Briggs is, arguably, the best weakside linebacker in the game and is only 26. He could help Philly rebuild its defense while Kolb gets ready to take control of the offense.

Again, just a rumor, and you've always got to take these things with a grain of salt. Still, it's interesting. Thoughts on this possible deal?

I don't see it happening. Has Philly given up on trying to win this year? Are they to the rebuilding point already?? They still have a strong defense, one of the best QBs in the game when healthy, and a strong running game. They are almost there.

No chance. Kolb will never be more then a back-up for the Eagles. His career will be over in 3-5 years. This ranks up there with Jon Harris as the worst pick ever for this team.

Trading up to take Mike Mamula and Tampa Picked Warren Sapp with the Eagles pick was the worst 1st round action by the Eagles, but this year perplexed me even more. From my couch I could see two needs that the Eagles don't have are QB (McNabb) and DE(former first rounder Jerome McDoogle might be cut because of this year's 2nd round pick Abiamiri). I think the Head Office in Philly is nutso and hellbent on mediocrity, but I don't think McNabb's gone. And they picked up Spikes in the offseason.

Is Chicago unhappy with Rex?
