Eagles sign Garcia, Gaffney

Philly signed two players today - former Pro Bowl QB Jeff Garcia, who spent last season in Detroit and will back up Donovan McNabb with the Eagles, and WR Jabar Gaffney, who caught 55 passes for 492 yards and two touchdowns last season for the Houston Texans. Garcia replaces Mike McMahon and Gaffney, in theory at least, replaces Terrell Owners. Good signings?

Re: Eagles sign Garcia, Gaffney

With McNabb coming off an injury, the Eagles definitely have good security if they need someone to step in and take the helm for a little bit, if not the rest of the season. As for Gaffney, I don't know if he can draw the coverage like T.O. to make one-on-one coverage for everyone else, but Gaffney is definitely a good receiver who can split the D and even run the deep routes.
