Earlier in the week, reports surfaced that Eagles QB Donovan McNabb was ticked off at his team.

As the AP put it, "One report, citing unidentified sources close to McNabb, said the five-time Pro Bowl quarterback is upset Reid wouldn't allow him to travel on the team plane for the Eagles' playoff game at New Orleans. Since Reid came to Philadelphia in 1999, he's had a rule that states players on injured reserve don't travel with the team... The newspaper report also said McNabb may feel others prefer backup Jeff Garcia to start over him, and it claimed he's bothered by the way the media and fans have portrayed his mother, Wilma, since her comments that watching the Eagles win without her son is 'bittersweet.'"

So what do you guys think about this story? Any chance McNabb wants out of Philly?

If he wants out then I say send him to Dallas and let him throw passes to the loud mouth t.o. Number 5 is overated in my book.

No, i think he is just a bit shocked at how much success Garcia had. Now that the fans all love Garcia, I guess he is a bit upset. However I believe that he will be back next yr, probably ard week 4 or so, and ready to play. Garcia may want to start, and he will to start the season, but even he knows his days are numbered. His best bet is stay in Philly where you will get some starts, and with McNabb's history of injury he more get even more playing time.

For the record, Andy Reid vehemently denied the reports and has said that he and Donovan are still very much on the same page.

Underrated? He could play quarterback for me any day of the week. I think the only players I would rather have them him are Carson Palmer, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. You want to argue Drew Brees is better? Go ahead. I would rather have McNabb.

As far as the story itself, it sounds like a lot of nonsense.

First and foremost, continuing from yesterday's Mark Eckel induced McNabb drama... it has become more and more clear that it was a completely made up story.
Bob Brookover in the Inky basically debunked the story the same way we did yesterday...(thanks to BrianS for finding the link) Andy Reid, speaking from the senior bowl,


"I think people are making a lot of things up here that aren't true," Reid said yesterday in a conference call from Mobile, Ala.
McNabb's agent, Fletcher Smith who is probably more reliable than any "source familiar with McNabb" Eckel claimed to have. If anyone was going to be out there fighting for what McNabb wants and representing his real feelings it would be his agent right?


"None of these stories quoted him," Smith said. "They're all quoting sources close to Donovan. They claim to know what he thinks and what he's feeling. Who are these people? I don't know. I think there should be some level of responsibility in getting his side of the story before printing some of this stuff. It's sensationalism, and I guess it sells newspapers."
