Refs

How is it that the Birds get called for 12+ penalties and the Giants only 4?? Come on there is something fishy here.

Re: Refs

Welcome to GoTeamsGo, njpsufan. Glad to have you here.

But it's a good win for the Eagles. It's a chance to control their own desitiny in the playoff picture. While my Titans need a Christmas miracle full of things to happen in order to get to the playoffs, you guys could still win the NFC east. And there's a chance at a 1st round bye.

I'd be happy to trade places

Look forward to chatting more with you.

Re: Refs

Yeah it was a big win, esp after they folded in the 4th qrt to the G-men earlier in the season. I just felt the refs were horrible. Bad enough we had Joe Buck and Troy Aikmen calling the game. To me it was typical NY basis. FOX and the NFL are so desperate to get one or both of the NY teams into the playoffs

Re: Refs

I was sort of surprised the Giants didn't get more penalties caused on them. It seemd like that Eagles offensive tackle got called for atleast a quarter of the penalties on false starts or holding calls.

But I must say it was probably the best game in recent memory that the Giants didn't play a penalty filled game. Too bad the Eagles defense shut down Tiki in the second half though.

After McNabb got hurt and then the Giants went on their skid, who thought the NFC East could still have 3 teams make the playoffs? lol

Do you recall any specific plays where the Giants should've gotten flags but didn't?

Re: Refs

Burress pushed off on the one completion. The 1st or 2nd play the Eagles ran, guy for the Giants had a late hit and ref just talked to him, no flag thrown. Garcia gets called for "taunting" yet Shockey taunts/celebrates after every catch and ntg ever thrown. Yeah it may sound like sour grapes but I am convinced that the NFL will do anything possible to get a NY team into the playoffs.

Burress always pushes off and always gets away with it.

Re: Refs

I agree. It does seem like NY Giants or jets get away with anything

Re: Refs

It does make you wonder at times. I met a guy several yrs ago on a golf course in NJ. He told me he was a professional bookie. He told me each week 4 to 5 games are "fixed" by the refs. Basically a call here, a call there. Doesn't take much when you think about it. Now maybe he was just a whack-o (probably) but it has made me look at games closer over the years.

Re: Refs

It seems the Giants usually get a ton of calls against them (last week was actually surprising in that they didn't). Whether it's holding/false starts, personal fouls, etc.

Re: Refs

Well for yrs it was always the Raiders who led the league in penalties. The thing this guy told me was how the refs could change the whole complexion of a game on one call. Long pass called back for "holding". How many times have you seen that.

Re: Refs

Sure, but to say it's on purpose is something entirely else to say. Holding calls are usually subjective, if a ref thinks he sees it, he's gonna call it. But I will say sometimes it looks like a fair play when they throw the flag anyway.

Re: Refs

That was this guys point. There are plenty of times you see the replay and the announcers go "I don't see it". But the ref called it and it brings a big gain back and changes the game. I am not agreeing with the guy.... it just makes you wonder at times thats all.
