Vick signed by Philly Just read on Espn.com that the Eagles have signed Michael Vick to a 2 year contract. I don't condone his involvement in dog fighting but I don't have a problem with this. He is a much better QB than Kolb. Besides Tony Dungy gave Vick his blessing that's good enough for me

Re: Vick signed by Philly You'd rather stick with Kolb? He's injured and has no skills. Vick was an effective QB especially in short yardage situations. Its not personal its football. Imo this was a good football move

Oh well if Tony Dungy said it's Ok than thats all that matters. Who cares what Tony Dungy thinks!! He is a football coach. Did I miss the memo where he was appointed God??...... Actually it's not a bad move. Obviously they think Kolb's injury is worse or they are convinced (finally) that Kolb has no future with them. Vick can not play until week 5 I think so for $1.6M they get him as a back-up for the rest of the year. He has plenty of time to get in shape and learn the system. Plus he gives them another Wildcat-type option later on. The option next year is for $5.2m so if something were to happen to McNabb, they have a back-up. If not they don't exercise the option and the draft a QB. Sure he comes with baggage but as was mentioned, Tony Dungy gave his stamp of approval so he must be good.

Re: Vick signed by Philly Tony Dungy is very respected in the football community and I'm sure his support of Vick helped. Did I say he was god no I said I respected his opinion that Vick deserved a chance to prove himself

Re: Vick signed by Philly Who gives out blessings??? Mafia Dons and Popes.... last time I look Dungy was neither. Who cares what he thinks. Was he a good coach... yes. Should people listen to his views on football.... yes. Should we care what he thinks about Michael Vick as a person.... no. Why? Because his opinion on this matter does not count. You know what they say about opinions... well Tony should shut up. Say Vick comes to Philly and commits a crime....what's Tony's "blessing" worth then??? Exactly. People in Philly don't need his opinion on this matter. If Lurie and Reid decided that Vick served his time and THEY decided to give him a second chance, then that's their decision and whether Tony Dungy agrees with it, or gives his papal blessing is pointless. Just a former coach who wants to keep his name out there in the press a little longer. "Coughlin's Law... Bury the dead, they stink up the place." Tell Tony to hit the road.

Re: Vick signed by Philly Do you even think before you press the send button? Why don't you read what was actually typed before making comments that have no relevance to the conversation. Do you think Vicks signing was a good football move or not? Do you think that Tony Dungy's support because he is respected in the football community helped open the door for Vick? Yes it was the Eagles management that made the decision but having a good resume with good references helps.

Re: Vick signed by Philly Of course I read what I write..... do you??? You made the totally unrelated comment that because "Tony Dungy gave Vick his blessing that's good enough for me". So basically you are saying that you believe whatever Tony Dungy thinks is OK, is good for you. If he gives his blessing to kill all cats and dogs is that good enough for you?? I understand what you meant... yes he is a good coach with a lot of insight who feels that Vick still can play and should be given a 2nd chance. But that's not what you said. Thanks to ESPN and talk radio, sports is filled with former coaches, players and idiots who have to give their view on a subject, just so they can keep making money. Tony Dungy could care less about Michael Vick... did he go visit him in prison?? Did he appear as a character witness at his many trials?? did he organize protests and marches to free him?? No he didn't. Like everyone else, he ran from Vick when public opinion turned against him. Now he wants to help him. Little late for that don't you think?? Before you put your faith in the hands of Tony Dungy, trying thinking for yourself first.

Re: Vick signed by Philly From what I read Dungy did visit and support Vick during his incarceration. From my understanding he didn't crawl out from under a rock when Michael got out of jail thinking this is a good opportunity for me to get back on TV.

| Re: Vick signed by Philly njp, Tony Dungy is a good decent man who gave up coaching so he could follow a different path. He has been mentoring Michael Vick very carefully, long before Goodell asked him to. squirrel was merely commenting on she trusts Dungy's word that Vick has turned a corner in Dungy's opinion. Thats about we have to go on right now that Vick has changed. Its a good option if Philly and the fans can handle the media deluge. It started last night already. Thats all they talked about. They even cancelled the football follies to talk about Vick. The fact that they gave him a two year contract instead of one tells me they saw something left in Vick yet. And njp, you're right, he has time to learn the system, get in shape, he just could be your next qb. Michael Vick is not Pacman. He deserves his chance if he wants to play. The past is done.

Re: Vick signed by Philly its not about a second chance its not about seeing self hatred (Lurie) its not about remorse its not about paying a debt to society Vick is a convicted felon, a dog killer, a criminal, a drug user, a jerk! Vick's reinstatement by the NFL is a clear message by the league that convicted felons a welcome and that past indescretions will be forgiven in the interest of a profit and television ratings. Jeffrey Lurie made a feeble attempt to mask his desire for Vick with a pathetic monologue on how he despises animal killers. Yeah, right! All the Eagles care about is trying to win the NFC east for shot at the playoffs. They felt that Vick gives them that chance. So, the Eagles have become "that team".....the team that everyone asked....."who would even sign Vick?" The Eagles have sold out and become "that team". In doing so, the Eagles have sold out their fans as well. So ,Eagles fans, by default, you now support Vick by going to the games, by watching them on television, by purchasing Eagles merchandise. The Eagles have become "that team" and now their fans are "those fans". Any fan attending an Eagles game is now tainted as supporting Vick, any fan watching them on TV is now tainted as supporting Vick, any fan wearing an Eagles jersey now supports Vick. WHY? Because Jeffrey Lurie says you do!!!!

Re: Vick signed by Philly Professional football is a business. Of course the Eagles are going to sign whoever they think will best help them to win. Donte Stallworth killed a man because he choose not to call a cab and got 30 days in jail. Vick's behavior is by no way excusable but. there have been a lot of incidents involving NFL players that should cause outrage
