| Penn State's Connor one of three finalists for linebacker award Penn State linebacker Dan Connor has been named one of three finalists for the Butkus Award, presented annually by the Downtown Athletic Club of Orlando, Inc., to the top collegiate linebacker. Connor joins Ohio State’s Dan Laurinaitis and Colorado’s Jordon Dizon in the final running for the honor, with the winner to be announced in December. “Linebackers grow up hearing about Dick Butkus and what a great player he was and to be a finalist for the Butkus Award is a great honor,” Connor said. “My teammates and coaches, especially coach (Ron) Vanderlinden, deserve all the credit for this, and my family, for all their support.” Former Lions linebacker Paul Posluszny won the Butkus Award in 2005 and was a finalist in 2006. Another Penn State linebacker, LaVar Arrington won it in 1999. Penn State's Connor one of three finalists for linebacker award
