| I don't know about you, but all of a sudden I've become pretty popular. You, too, probably, if you live in these parts and you might have room in the house and tickets and/or parking for the Penn State-Notre Dame game. Football fever in July, at a higher level than usual, seems rampant, and it's rare that I don't sit down to an e-mail from someone, somewhere, wondering about tickets for Sept. 8. People I met once, in different states, all of a sudden remember me and take their shot. And shot it is, given that tickets are spoken for and there's just so much space in the house -- any house. I like to respond to these people by saying sorry, there are no tickets, but you know there are some other pretty good games at Beaver Stadium this fall. Iowa? Wisconsin? Ohio State? Purdue? Good and more meaningful games when you consider Penn State's conference fate. But fans seeking tickets for the first home game with Notre Dame in 16 years, and the last in the foreseeable future, really don't want to hear that. No doubt they go wandering off seeking high-priced tickets and planning to come anyway, and I'm left wondering if they realize there's an entire season ahead. It is a season of high expectations, and it'll begin sooner than you think. www.centredaily.com | 07/29/2007 | Editor's Desk: Focusing on Penn State football and local issues that matter most |
