It's a disconcerting thought for Penn State football fans, no matter how you spin it.
The Nittany Lions may end this recruiting season without landing any of Pennsylvania's very best high school recruits.
That can't be good, can it?
Has that ever even happened?
Of course, you could argue that the Nittany Lions need running backs more than anything -- and the best ones just aren't around here. Or you could say they are finally stretching their recruiting territory, as many have longed for. Or you could say they are being extra picky because they don't have many scholarships to give.
But here are the hard facts: top Pittsburgh-area linebacker Andrew Sweat has already picked Ohio State, and Altoona running back/returner A.J. Alexander has picked Florida State.
And not one of these Pittsburgh-area stars -- linebacker Shayne Hale, offensive tackle Lucas Nix and tight end Jonathan Baldwin -- appear to be even considering Penn State.
