Penn State Offensive Lineman Elijah Robinson Done Playing Football ...
AHN - 20 hours ago
State College, PA (AHN) - After injuring his neck in spring practice, Penn State offensive lineman Elijah Robinson is finished playing competitive football.

Robinson walked off the field after the injury and was not immediately hospitalized.

After examinations, team doctor Wayne Sebastianelli discovered that Robinson was born with a tight spinal canal, team officials said.

A team statement issued Thursday stated that any impact to Robinson's head could pinch the spinal column and result in paralysis.

Robinson, a native of Camden, N.J., who had two years of eligibility remaining, was vying for a starting position on the offensive line.

"This is a big loss for the team," head coach Joe Paterno said. "I'm disappointed for him in regards to his football career, but you can't take any chances with his future."

Re: Penn State OL Elijah Robinson

What a shame... there was a good chance this kid was going to start this year, too. But better to walk away now while he still can.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - Penn State offensive lineman Elijah Robinson's football career is over after he sustained a neck injury in spring practice.

Robinson walked off the field and was not hospitalized after the injury, but team doctor Wayne Sebastianelli discovered after examinations that Robinson was born with a tight spinal canal, team officials said.

Robinson, of Camden, N.J., had been in the running for a starting spot on the line. He had two years of eligibility left. "This is a big loss for the team," coach Joe Paterno said.
