STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Six Penn State football players, including stars Anthony Scirrotto and Justin King, turned themselves in Friday to face charges that they barged into a party at an off-campus apartment earlier this month and started a violent fight.

Each player faces at least one felony count of criminal trespass. Scirrotto, a safety, faces the most serious charges, including two other felonies -- burglary and criminal solicitation.

Police said Scirrotto and his girlfriend got into an altercation with three men on a street in State College and then followed them to an apartment building. He called his brother and some friends to get them to join him, but they weren't immediately let into the party, police said.

BELLEFONTE -- Charges against three of five Penn State football players accused in an April 1 apartment invasion and assaults were thrown out after a marathon public hearing that lasted almost 10 hours Friday.

And, before the hearing even began, charges against star cornerback Justin King were withdrawn by prosecutors.

However, District Judge Carmine Prestia bound over all charges against star Penn State safety Anthony Scirrotto and most charges against defensive tackle Chris Baker over for possible trial in county court.

He dismissed all charges against Jerome Hayes, Tyrell Sales and Lydell Sargeant. The three had been charged with criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and harassment.

"I'm very pleased that Lydell's and Jerome's charges were dismissed," said attorney Karen Muir, who represented the two. "Their families are ecstatic. Now they can focus on what they love -- playing football."
