Carlisle Sentinel, PA - Apr 21, 2007
All spring, all of the talk surrounding the 2007 Penn State football team has been youth, depth, more youth and a dash more depth.
All of that was on display Saturday at sunny Beaver Stadium in front of a record 71,000 fans, who watched the White take down the Blue 30-6.
Youth, size and speed were evident everywhere, specifically on the defensive side of the ball, as the potential starting unit was split in half.
“We've been moving them around to see what they can do at different spots,” said defensive coordinator Tom Bradley, “and at least from there we'll have a good evaluation when the time comes.”
Redshirt defensive end Aaron Maybin led the Blue with four tackles, including one for a loss. Maybin hopes to be part of a deep, young crop of Nittany Lions defenders who are in a position to step up and contribute come Sept. 1, when Florida International opens the season.
