Penn State Football: Posluszny ready to step into NFL

With his Penn State career in the rearview mirror, the linebacker regarded as perhaps the best in school history by the likes of Jack Ham, can now focus on his future, one that should come with a rather large paycheck.

“It's definitely different than preparing for a regular season,” Posluszny said. “There's a lot of different type of training. The only thing you really train for is running the 40 (yard dash) and doing position drills and things like that. I'm definitely glad it's over and now we just wait and see where we're going to.”

Posluszny led the Nittany Lions with 116 tackles, switching over to the inside linebacker position after coming off his knee injury in the Orange Bowl. At the next level, he projects at the outside spot, and clearly he's slimmed down to work on agility and cut his 40-yard dash time from his run at the NFL Combine to his pro day workout.

“It depends on who you talk to. I like both inside and outside, it's just depending on the scheme and where you get to make the most plays is where I want to be,” Posluszny said.

Publications such as Pro Football Weekly list Posluszny as headed to the Saints with the 27th pick. Scout's Inc says he is the 19th best prospect in next months draft, meanwhile, ESPN's Mel Kiper says he will fall to the Giants with the No. 20 overall pick.

You know, somewhere I was under the mistaken impression that Penn State was still gonna have Posluszny this year. Shame... but the Lions loss is the NFL's gain, and Paul's gonna make one hell of a pro linebacker. Think he will indeed go in the first round?
