Wofford football coach Terry Lantz didn't answer his cell phone. He had forgotten it at the office.
He's not sure what he would have said.
The message left early Wednesday morning was from sophomore defensive back Greg Gasparato, who was on his way home to Irmo. His father died Tuesday night of an apparent heart attack. Nick Gasparato, a football coach and science teacher at Dutch Fork High School, had also been an assistant at South Carolina and Penn State. The funeral will be Monday in Pittsburgh.
There was a somber mood in the locker room as the Terriers prepared for an evening practice.
