Heisman Trophy winners Tim Brown (Notre Dame), Doug Flutie (Boston College) and Curt Warner (Penn State) are among those making their first appearance on the ballot for the College Football Hall of Fame. The National Football Foundation announced 75 players and eight coaches who comprise the subdivision ballot. The Hall of Fame class will be announced May 9.
Penn State coach Joe Paterno will be automatically inducted. He was picked in 2006 but was unable to attend the banquet because of a leg injury. Players with local ties on the ballot are: D.J. Dozier (Penn State), Terry Hanratty (Notre Dame), Major Harris (West Virginia), Darryl Talley (West Virginia) and Clendon Thomas (Oklahoma, Steelers).
