Another solid class coming to Penn State

Absent the kind of glamorous‚ skilled position stars that so-called experts tend to overvalue‚ Penn State’s 2007 recruiting class won’t be ranked among the top 10 in the nation.

Today‚ however‚ when head coach Joe Paterno and his staff wrap up the latest group of football prospects headed to Happy Valley‚ they’ll unveil many of the same characteristics fans have come to expect: some of the nation’s top high school linebackers‚ lots of athletes who could wind up playing any number of positions‚ and yet another batch of legacies who are following in their father’s footsteps to compete for the 80-year-old legend.

On the first day high school seniors can officially commit to a program‚ Penn State expects to sign at least 20 recruits. Many committed verbally weeks or months ago‚ but one holdout – powerful running back Broderick Green of Little Rock‚ Ark. – is providing quite a bit of last-minute suspense.
