University Park, Pa. -- The Penn State football team produced another outstanding academic performance during the Fall 2006 semester, with 43 squad members earning at least a 3.0 grade point average.

Among the 43 Nittany Lions who had a 3.0 or higher, 14 earned Dean's List recognition by posting a GPA of 3.50 or higher.

The superlative academic performance brings the number of 2006 Nittany Lion football student-athletes to 36 who have a cumulative 3.0 GPA. Among the high achievers are: sophomores Gerald Cadogan (Portsmouth, Ohio), Paul Cianciolo (Charleston, S.C.), Kevin Kelly (Langhorne), Justin King (Pittsburgh), Sean Lee (Pittsburgh) and Jordan Norwood (State College) and junior Jason Ganter (State College).

Among some of the other Nittany Lions who earned Dean’s List recognition were: senior Joe Cianciolo (Charleston, S.C.), freshman Pat Devlin (Downingtown),) senior Kevin Darling (Springfield, Va.), senior Lee Kuzemchak (Clymer), freshman Josh Hull (Millheim), sophomore Ross Muir (Noblesville, Ind.), sophomore Mark Rubin (Amherst, N.Y.), junior Patrick Weber (Arnold) and redshirt freshman Kevin Suhey (State College), who earned a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall semester.

Paul Cianciolo and Suhey are the squad's top students, with a 3.92 cumulative grade point average through the fall semester.

Amazing numbers. Kudos to the kids, Joe Paterno and the PSU teachers for accomplising such an impressive academic feat!
