Penn State's Norwood tries out for basketball
Patriot-News, PA - 6 hours ago
Penn State's Jordan Norwood, a receiver on the school's football team, is going to take a shot at basketball.

A member of State College High's 2003 state championship basketball team, Norwood will try out with Ed DeChellis's 10-5 Nittany Lions squad.

Norwood was offered by DeChellis a walk-on tryout in 2003, but the 5-10, 168-pound sophomore turned his attention to football.

Norwood Joins Nittany Lion Basketball Team
GoPSUsports.com - 13 hours ago
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; January 11, 2007 – Penn State coach Ed DeChellis announced Thursday that sophomore guard Jordan Norwood (State College, Pa.), one of the top pass catchers on the Penn State football team, has joined the Penn State basketball team.

Norwood, who helped Joe Paterno’s football team complete a 9-4 season with a 20-10 win over No. 17 Tennessee in the Outback Bowl on Jan. 1, contacted the basketball staff in the week following the bowl game about the possibility of joining the team. The 5-10, 168-pound guard met with DeChellis Sunday of this week and began practicing with the team on Monday. Penn State now has 17 players on its roster and 16 in practice, with freshman D.J. Jackson sidelined with a stress fracture in his left leg.

“Jordan is very explosive, quick and athletic and a very good defender,” DeChellis said. “He’s just trying to learn right now and help the team and get into basketball shape. He adds a dimension for our guards to play against. Jordan’s bright, works hard, has good skills and is a great kid and great student, so we’re going to see if he can help us out.”
