| Joe Paterno: Lost legacy? Joe Paterno lost his battle with cancer Sunday, he died at the age of 85. We know he has had various health issues, many which resulted in him coaching from the box. Joe didnt like that, he wanted to be on the sidelines among the players. Joe had a wonderful legacy with one of the best records as a winning coach in the college football game. His players and all the kids loved him. But this year a dark blot fell on his shadow when his asssistant coach was charged with molesting kids. When he found about it at the time, Joe turned it over to the proper authority at the school, the President. He said so. He then apparently put it out of his mind, thinking it would be taken care of. But do we wonder? Do we think he was more interested in the great football program he had going and the school's reputation and so he didnt do enough? Do we wonder if he turned a blind eye, that surely he must have known it was going on and continued to go on? Will his wonderful legacy be muddied and forgotten in the history of the game? R.I.P Joe. Whatever you didnt do you should have, I believe that because of the man you really were, you paid for your sins. Paid with a broken heart when you died. But I think your once golden legacy is now terribly tarnished.

| Re: Joe Paterno: Lost legacy? Really ... I don't think so. It will always be there as a stain but I believe that in time when this is all done and over with he will remain as one of America's finest coaches. Is Babe Ruth famous for his records or his drinking ? We know about both but only one really stands out and this is the same way JoePa will be remembered. If This had happened in the same era as Ruth it would be even less of a media story than it is now. That's not saying it was right but lets be honest and admit that the media is far more interested in destroying reputations than building hero's. |

| Re: Joe Paterno: Lost legacy? I'll admit I've made bad comments about the man, and don't take back a single one. Now, even though I don't watch college football, even I know who he was. I think this will be a blemish, but he'll still be remembered as a great coach.

| Re: Joe Paterno: Lost legacy? Everyone will have their own take on this. If they hate sports anyway we know they will focus on his "mistake". Some "fans" would have stuck by him if he was the "guilty" one. I will say it is a dang shame from beginning to wherever it ends. As Joe said himself, "pray for the victims".

| Re: Joe Paterno: Lost legacy? You certainly have no reason to apologize for your opinion. I have a much larger problem with people who complain about an opinion versus an opinion I may not agree with. |
