R.I.P, I had a horrible feeling that when everything went down that he might not make it much longer after he was no longer the coach.

So are you saying if he was still a coach lung cancer wouldn't kill him?

Maybe if he had turned the molester in when he found out about it he wouldn't have a "broken" heart. And imagine how many other kids might have been saved from going through what they went through.

No, but we can't underestimate how much coaching was keeping him going, basically his reason to live.

A doctor on the Today Show this morning said "stress" can release chemicals in the body that can speed cancer up.

he did notify people he believed would take care of the matter....he was the football coach, not the administration.......

....and [i'll get killed for this one]......how many of the "kids'' where wiling participants???....all these years go by before stuff like this gets exposed ...i think there were 15 cases that surfaced, but no ''kids'' ran home and told mommy or daddy....

It is always the adults fault, not the kid. Makes no difference if the kid wanted to or not.

I might not be killed for what I'm fixing to say, but I might get banned. If I am, so be it.

In what part of your little mind is it a kids fault when an adult molests or rapes them? Are you f'ing kidding me? From experience I can tell you, adults who do this can convince a child they better not tell anybody. Then that child will spend many many many years trying to convince themselves it didn't happen. The " how many were willing" thoughts from people like you is one reason some won't tell. I will say if you have a young child or grandchild, I pray this never happens to them, cause chances are good you will not be told about it when it happens. That child will live with it to themselves wondering if it was their fault. I lived with those thoughts from age 12 til I was 26, and never told anyone.
So you with your "how many were willing" can rot in hell.

I think most of us understand you feeling as you do. And it was very courageous of you to share that with us. I certainly wish you and everyone that has been through this peace of mind.

Re: Joe Paterno Passes at Age 85

We'll never know if there were willing participants. My guess is there were none. A pedophile wants children where a homosexual "generally" has willing partners. How many adolescents at age 10 - 11 know what gay is??? I do not know the answer to it but even if a child is gay I don't believe they are gonna run home and tell mommy and daddy that they just had a sexual encounter with an adult. There has to be a certain amount of guilt with such an act and even most children have a gut feeling it isn't right. For certain the adult is going to impose some type of threat with the child anyway.

The short of it for me is that if and when found guilty this man, or any person guilty of this type of hideous crime, should be put away forever. The nice/not so nice thing is that even prisoners look at this crime as hideous and they will make the guilty one pay the ultimate price.

Perhaps salty was thinking of older kids looking for a cheap thrill. Still, it is the adult's fault.
I am sorry jks, terribly terribly sorry.
An adult bent on molesting a child can scare the crap out of the kid. The kids have all these conflicting feelings inside them and they believe when the adult says if they tell bad things will happen.
I thought about editing your last sentence jks, I dont wish anyone in hell, but felt it really described the depth of your pain.
Now today I read of a senior athletic official at Wisconsin who grabbed at the crotch of boy at an "alcohol fueled" party. He tried to set the kid up. I believe the man in question has been fired. It never seems to end. You cant help but wonder how many others have suffered in silence.
