Joe Paterno injured

Penn State football coach Joe Paterno was injured during yesterday's game between the Nittany Lions and the Wisconsin Badgers. According to the Associated Press, "Paterno stood with his hands on his knees for several minutes after Penn State freshman tight end Andrew Quarless rolled into him after catching a sideline pass early in the third quarter. Paterno eventually was escorted to the bench." Any update on JoePa's condition?

Re: Joe Paterno injured

What a tough ol' cuss Paterno is, man. 79-years-old, didn't want to come off the field after the incident, and it turns out he had a broken leg and two torn knee ligaments. Surgery was successful, and doctors are keeping him in the hospital through tomorrow night, but JoePa plans to be on the sidelines for the Temple game.

According to the Associated Press, "The 79-year-old coach was in good condition Tuesday night at Mount Nittany Medical Center and had not had any complications from the operation, said Guido D'Elia, a team spokesman. Doctors were being 'extra-cautious' and would take it day-to-day in determining when he could be released, D'Elia said... The feisty Paterno, eager to get home, 'has not been the best rehab patient,' D'Elia said. Paterno still wants to return to practice, and missing Saturday's game against Temple 'was not a consideration' for him, D'Elia said." How about this guy!

Cool Re: Joe Paterno injured

Maybe it's time for him to go and bring in a young sprig like maybe Lou Holtz. He's only 70.

Re: Joe Paterno injured

Turns out he won't be on the sidelines this Saturday -- doctors are banning him from doing so, making this the first game in 29 years he won't be standing on the Penn State sidelines during a game. But he will be coaching the team from the press box.

Re: Paterno back in driver's seat at Penn State practices

Good to see Paterno back in total command of the team, even if he's not quite 100%. That was a pretty brutal looking injury last month.
