Ottawa Senators will host the New York Rangers to open the NHL pre-season on Saturday, Sept. 20.They'll also play a pre-season game in Sweden on Oct. 2 when they face Frolunda in Gothenburg, the hometown of their captain Daniel Alfredsson.
The Senators will remain in Sweden to open the regular season with a pair of games Oct. 4 and 5 against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Stockholm.
I thought, That must be nice to have a Swedish captain who has committed to your team.

Other non-NHL Canadian markets that will host exhibition games include Halifax (Boston vs. Montreal, Sept. 22 and Boston vs. Detroit, Sept. 25); London, Ont. (N.Y. Islanders vs. Philadelphia, Sept. 25); Moncton, N.B. (Boston vs. N.Y. Islanders, Sept. 23); Summerside, P.E.I. (Florida vs. N.Y. Islanders, Sept. 27); and Winnipeg (Calgary vs. Phoenix, Sept. 24).
