Hot trade rumour from Sun Media in Ottawa. Martin Gerber and Andrej Meszaros to the Kings who then send Anze Kopitar to Chicago who in turn send Khabibulin and either Brent Seabrook or Cam Barker Ottawa's way. My only question is on Khabibulin's ability. Is he washed up?

Oh yeah, my other question is on the Ottawa Sun's reliability. They've made some pretty bogus assertions in the past and as someone I know put it, you can buy the Sun for 0.25 cents, you can't even make a phone call for that anymore.

if it's a rumour, it's a complicated rumour.
it's possible, isn't it? they might not be pleased with gerber - but Khabibulin isn't anymore consistent and I don't believe Gerber is the reason they blew a tire.

Nope. Not going to happen. They have Anze locked in he isn't going anywhere. Mezaros isn't either. Completely false.
Now what IS a rumor, is that they might trade Gerber and a draft pick for Nikolai in chicago. So then Chicago has more room under the cap, 5 or 6 million actually, and Ottawa has goaltending. Then Ottawa is a GREAT team.

That rumor is NOT a possibility.

I think he is a good goaltender, but not as good as he was. He is old now, but he is still doing great. He would be a great addition to any team unless they already have a great goaltender.

If it were up to me, I wouldn't bother - I'd keep gerber and work on getting a decent back up.

how bout the fact they signed huet, this deal makes no sense, tho the blackhawks do have to get rid of Khabibulin's contract. But they are not trading the core they've built to do it.
