EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - First Sid the Kid and the Pittsburgh Penguins got the boot. Now Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils are done.

It took the Ottawa Senators all of 10 games to advance to the Eastern Conference finals and finally deliver in the playoffs after a decade of disappointing failures.

Jason Spezza scored the go-ahead goal and set up another by Daniel Alfredsson in a three-goal second period as Ottawa beat the Devils 3-2 on Saturday night and won the series in five games.

"We don't want to get ahead of ourselves," Senators general manager John Muckler said. "We played awfully well this series and the Pittsburgh series. I don't think we're the same team as in the past. The chemistry in the locker room is much better. It's just a group of guys who believe in themselves and are working.

"There is a process to this winning," Muckler added. "You have to learn it. You just can't turn it on."

I would've never thought it was possible. Ottawa's playing much better hockey than I thought possible. Maybe they do have a shot to win the East.

were a better team all-around
the sabres have worked their asses off this yr and theyre not just gonna let some ottawa team that every1 hates in the first place stomp all over them.
well give them a good run for their money.
but its gonna b a good series.

Hey, I didn't think Ottawa would get past the Pens or Devils, but they did. I didn't think Buffalo would need six games to down the Rangers, but they did. So who's to say the Senators don't have a shot of beating the Sabres?

the buffalo sabres have gone through so many hardships in the past few years
weve had some good ones, but now were just starting to pick up momentum
us buffalo fans want to see the sabres win a cup so bad - its ben over 30 years, and weve gotten close, but no cigar
for all the hard work each and every player put in, dont u think the sabres deserve the cup more?

Sabres fan ... yes. But no one, NO ONE "deserves the cup". No matter how bad or good a team has played, a team will earn thru hard work, stamina, integrity and a little luck. And the loser just didn't have enough of those things in the end. Sabres in 7. May the Sabres crush Neils knees for the playoffs !!

but the sabres DO have stamina, integrity, and at times a little luck
