PBR - Professional Bull Riders

Okay, I noticed a lot of our members are discussing PBR - Professional Bull Riders. I'll be honest with all of you, I had no idea there was an organized professional league for bull riding. When did this start? What can you folks tell me about it?

Anyway, here's a thread for everyone to discuss all things PBR related.

Re: PBR - Professional Bull Riders

Thanks Lefty, The PBR was founded in 1992 It is fast becoming a popular spectator sport. I've been a follower for about 2 years. OLN and NBC broadcast's the sport on the week ends also ESPN has programing. And(ugh) PPV. www.pbrnow.com If you want to check it out. Fan's have favorite bulls as well as rider. There is nothing more beautiful then a man on the back of a bull, with a perfect ride. Justin McBride is the champion, to watch him ride makes it look easy. There are three or four awesome rookies this year. Brian Canter, 5'3' about 115 pounds, sets good on the back of the big bulls. They kid ,that hes so light that if he gets throwen he can't hit the ground hard. He's also in the top 10 in points.
They have had a 6 week break, cont. tonight at 9:00 on OLN. Usually show a repete after midnight, Lets me watch the race and then keep up with the riding. It's an exciting sport, but you have to have the stomach for it, sometime's can be a little guresome. I can't even talk my husband into watching.

Re: PBR - Professional Bull Riders

Thanks for info and the link!

That's a pretty comprehensive website, but I'm still confused about some things.

In the Past Season Archives, I noticed that there are three different listings for each year's champions - the World Champion, the Finals Champion and the CT Champion. So, which is generally recognized as the sports highest honor? World Champ I assume? Where do Finals Champ Guilherme Marchi and CT Champ Edgard Oliveira fit into the mix?

I also see where this McBride is about to cross the $3 million career earnings mark, and that Mike Lee and Adriano Moraes are over $2 million. So are these three like the big stars of the PBR, the Tony Stewart-Jimmie Johnson-Dale Jr.-Jeff Gordons, if you will?

The World Champ is all points for the season, sort of like the old NASCAR system. He wins the buckle. The finals is sort of like the chase only it takes place in a few days. The World Champ does not have to win the finals. The rateings are based on money won. and yes to your second question. They are the big stars. A rider not winning will fall out of the PBR untill he earns by wins enougth to move back up in rank, like NASCAR there are many other series. And I'm not sure about the CT Champ. I'll have to check that out. Also the Bulls are rated and they earn money on preformance. Most of the riders also breed bulls. Big time money there. A great Bull will have his own fan base and sell as much mechandise as the riders. And make tons as a breeder. Good proven cows are worth a fortune too.

Does it have more footage then what they show on Fearless, I sat and taped it without commerical's. He was awesome to be such a pussy cat. I sure miss Little Yellow Jacket and Blueberry Wine. Raindeer Dipping is going to be a booger, but I don't think he'll ever have LYJ's personality. Have you seen Coyte(don't think I spelled that right)yet, the little bull with a stub of a tail. Some of the new jackets are ok. And some of Blueberry's kid's.

I know, brought tears to my eye's. Most people that have not been around livestock don't know how sweet these animals can be.
Looks like the cowboy's vs bulls came out pretty equal last night. I missed about 15 mins watching the end of the Busch race. So I didn't get to see Justin or Luke ride. How about that little Brian Canter, big old bull rolled over him, he couldn't even stand, but he wanted his re-ride . He did come close to getting a higher score then Luke. Sure was nice to see Rob Smets back, even if it was in the booth. After three broken necks he won't be bull fighting anymore. He sure was one of the best. I sure hope he gets the job of commentator. Second round tonight at 8:00.
