Phil Mickelson U.S. Open collapse

Anyone else watch Phil Mickelson's collapse at the U.S. Open? Hell, how could you miss it? One of the biggest choke jobs I've ever seen, in any sport. Lefty had a bogey on 17 and double bogey on 18 and all but handed the U.S. Open title to Geoff Ogilvy. Thoughts on this epic collapse?

Woods doesn't make the cut...and Phil chokes...maybe he needed that air of competition...maybe he had too much time to think.

Re: Phil Mickelson U.S. Open collapse

The funny thing was, with his decision to use the driver instead of the 4-wood reminded me so much of the movie "Tin Cup". He sliced the driver shot into the The Champion's Pavilion, then tried for the green and hit a tree, then nailed a bunker... it was just SO ugly and SO painful to watch. Like Mickleson told the AP afterwards, "I just can't believe that I did that... I am such an idiot."

When you are doing stupid things, sometimes you don't know it is dumb until the damage is done. Had he hit his driver straight, like he has umpteen times, there would only be talk of how he won but did not have to face Tiger. But he didn't, and the rest is history.
By the way, is everyone else's father in the world still alive and only Tiger Woods has had to suffer the loss of his dad?

No...but not everyone in the world shoots below 70 on the golf course...and his dad was part of his game in a way...so the two are linked...I think his head is not all that clear and his game has some rust to it.
