[NHRA] Anheuser-Busch Ends NHRA Sponsorship...

ST. LOUIS -- Anheuser-Busch ended its sponsorship of the NHRA on Monday.

The St. Louis-based division of Anheuser-Busch InBev also announced that it will end its 30-year relationship with Kenny Bernstein Racing's NHRA team. The brewery said the three-decade relationship was the longest in motorsports history, eclipsing STP's 28-year sponsorship of NASCAR's Richard Petty.

Dan McHugh, the brewer's vice president of media sponsorship, said Anheuser-Busch is looking at different ways to reach a new generation of consumers who haven't yet tried Budweiser.

Bernstein won six NHRA championships with Budweiser as his sponsor. He retired in 2003 and his son, Brandon, took over as the driver.

KBR is seeking a new sponsor.

I really hate to see this for the Bernsteins. Not having Budweiser on Brandon's rail is just not gonna seem right.

Wow! This forum is basically useless. Without Racer Duck, there would be nothing but zero's all the way down the Replies column.

What is there to say?

Brandon sucks, and the Bud will more than likely spend the money in NASCAR.

I can't tell you how many NHRA posts I've started, and I don't recall seeing you post in any of em.

Spare us the ripping of other members, and just try to stick with it. I'd love to talk NHRA, but it just doesn't seem to interest folks here.

Deal with it without being negative about it.

That may be true, but it wasn't really a comment on Brandon as a driver. It was about Bud leaving the NHRA and not seeing them on the side of his rail. It would be like not seeing Castrol somewhere on John Force's car, for example. It's not really a big deal I guess, since I got used to seeing Goodwrench on the side of Dale's car after years of seeing Wrangler.

Guilty as charged.

I wasn't ripping other members! I just looked down the replies column and only saw Racer Duck's name among a whole bunch of computer generated threads. There must be a reason for that. Maybe because there's to many of them. Or maybe nobody's interested in any of them, which makes them basically useless. Or maybe I just don't understand why we have them. I don't really know. In any event, I used this thread I started to make the comment, as opposed to starting a new one. So why don't I reply in any of these threads, you may ask? Because I don't know enough about any other types of racing, other than NASCAR and a little about the NHRA, to make any type of comment. Your knowledge of NHRA far exceeds mine, and I say that with a great deal of admiration. So I'll be the first to admit, my little racing world is small.

I would too, if I knew as much about it as you do. But I'll keep up with your threads better from now on, and try to contribute what I can.

I guess after all the negativity in the NASCAR forum I read, it just came out that way. Looking back now, I'm sure I could have worded it differently to not sound that way. Quite frankly, all the negativity is why I'm losing interest in this place tonight. But I'll take your advice and "try to stick with it." Maybe my attitude will be better tomorrow, because today it wasn't very good. I apologize for that.

Re: [NHRA] Anheuser-Busch Ends NHRA Sponsorship...

Thanks for the props Robert. I'm trying to make the posts more interesting.

As the season gets going there will be more different kinds of racing reported, and I can tell by the # of views that people are looking at most of the posts, however I dropped the MotoGP newsbot 'cause it was putting 5 posts a day in with not a single comment over several months (except mine, of course.)

You don't have to be an expert to comment on something. Heck, even asking a (what may seem "dumb") question is often enough to begin a good discussion.

Did you see LSC's post about local short tracks in Sprint Cup Forum? If we can get some good traction on that one, we'll put the forum in Motorsports. And I know you've been known to attend the local track once or twice.

Point is, this place is all about talking about the sports you like. And Motorsports covers a bunch of different kinds of things. So even though you are mainly a NASCAR fan, I'd bet your next paycheck that there's at least one other form of motorsports you enjoy watching .. and may have an opinion or two about.

Everybody probably knows I love just about any form of motorsports and I even know a little about most of them. So if it's tractor pulling (I'm a Deere man), lawn mower racing, swamp buggy racing, hydroplane racing, hare and hounds, motorycle flat track, speedway bikes, rock crawling, drag boats, desert racing, superbikes, airplane racing, sports cars on airport tracks, sand drags, Monster trucks, figure 8 racing, Super Modifieds (Oswego), winged or unwinged sprint cars, Allison car racing, dwarf car racing, submarine racing (really popular in San Diego ) or any of another 50-100 different kinds of racing, I've probably seen it before and may have even attended an event in person (I've actually been to all but half a dozen of the ones I've listed, plus a bunch more!)

So just jump in, the water's fine.

Also, the NHRA is a awesome!

I would love to have more talk! If you're up for it, I'll give it another shot at the next event, and maybe we can generate some more interest.

It just get's depressing to have a sport I have a lot of passion for garner no interest!

Maybe we can make something happen in this forum with it. The NHRA needs some talk!
