Just heard that ESPN's Andy Katz is reporting Billy Donovan is having second thoughts about going to the NBA and leaving Florida and wants to return to the college ranks. Orlando is now deciding whether or not to let him out of his contract.

What I was hearing is that they make him buy out his contract. That would be great. I also hate coaches leaving. They should have to honor what they sign.

The Orlando Magic released a statement this morning: "While Central Florida, the Orlando Magic and Billy were energized with the announcement of his contract signing on Friday, we know there was a different feeling in Gainesville and people have been tugging at him since that time. Billy is conflicted with those emotions and the opportunity he has ahead in Orlando and in the NBA. We've had numerous conversations and a personal visit in Gainesville with Billy over the last 48 hours and we have a commitment from him that the dialogue between us will continue."

Guys like this need to follow their hearts and stop listening to their damn agents. It's clear he didn't really want to leave UF but got talked into it.

Rule of thumb is, once you say you are going you go...never take a counter offer etc...he looks like an idiot not a program leader this way.

Word is that Donovan is going to be let out of the contract in exchange for a promise that he can't take any other NBA job for five seasons.
