The University of Oregon Ducks climbed to No. 3 in the Bowl Championship Series and the national Associated Press poll in results released today.
The Ducks, fresh from a win over Arizona State, are barely behind the Louisiana State University Tigers, who rose to No. 2 in both rankings.
The Bowl Championship Series rankings determine who will play in the national championship and other top bowl games. Those standings are based on a complicated formula of of polls and computer rankings that selects two teams to play for the title.

Ducks climbed to No. 3 in the BCS, behind Ohio State and LSU. Oregon is closely followed by the University of Kansas and Oklahoma in the BCS rankings.
In the AP rankings, LSU received 1,523 points and the Ducks had 1,517.
