Despite the bad call on the onsides, the Sooner D still could've manned-up and stopped Oregon. Your kick team could blocked better and allowed that field goal to get up. There were still opportunities to overcome the bad calls.

All I'm saying is, don't put ALL of this defeat on a few bad calls. OU has to at least share the blame.
The problem I have is that a few bad calls normally don't impact a game in that manner. These did. In the era of instant replay, this kind of garbage cannot happen. All I know is that the replay official for that game needs to stay at his desk at the PAC10 headquarters and not be allowed back at a collegiate game. Now, should OU have over come the calls, probably. But no one can dispute the fact that those calls, particularly the on-side kick call, were THE turning point of the game. The refs decided the outcome, not the players.

Agreed completely with both of you, AZAggie & Pac10Refs. The were lousy calls and I don't think anyone can deny that. All I'm trying to point out is, despite that, Oklahoma still controlled their own destiny at the end. Oregon still managed to score on the Sooner defense, then on the ensuing drive, there was a questionable running play call followed by a blocked field goal attempt. It was awful that OU was placed in that situation, but they had to deal with the situation they were in, and they couldn't do it.

On a side note, anyone hear anything about possible disciplinary action against the officiating crew?

I think what you are trying to say is, "No way this game should have been in the hands of the Refs...it only was because the Sooners let it be."

More or less, yeah, Gotham. Regardless of the refs, a team has to take care of its own business. One defensive stop, one better play call, one made field goal and this discussion never happens - the bad calls simply become a footnote to the game. I bet Bob Stoops isn't harping on the officiating, I'll tell you that. I'm sure he's more far interested in how that Oregon receiver got behind the defense for the go ahead score, or how his special teams allowed a blocked kick as time ran out.

The thing is though, the on side kick WAS the play that decided the ball game. It is not like this was just some crappy phantom holding call. That single call decided the outcome of the game. OU probably could have helped it's own cause by stopping them, but to make matters worse, the refs blew another big call, which at the very least kept the Oregon drive alive. It is awful hard to overcome 2 blatantly pitiful, sorry calls of that magnitude coming that close together. I hope the replay official was fired, but since it went in the favor of a PAC10 team. I am sure he got a bonus instead.

Talking Re: Oklahoma Sooners @ Oregon Ducks

OK, a somewhat outside opinion, from what I have heard and the opinions I have read, the whole crew made mistakes the whole game. Mistakes were made against both teams. If that were the case, If Oklahoma deserved to win the game, then they should have won the game. As it turned out, Oregon overcame the obsticals and was victorious. The officials will be suspended for a week and probably lost all post-season considerations for working. I see it as Oklahoma needs to put away the crying towel and get on with life!

Re: Oklahoma Sooners @ Oregon Ducks

What would be nice is to see these 2 teams meet up in a Bowl game again this year. Then they could settle this mess on the field.
