| Georgian picks Ole Miss because of new hire Nix OXFORD — Early in his search for a college football program, Georgia prep linebacker Jason Jones was being recruited to South Carolina by then-Gamecocks defensive coordinator Tyrone Nix. He liked South Carolina and he liked Nix. But last month Nix changed jobs, coming over to Ole Miss to be the defensive coordinator for new coach Houston Nutt. Jones had never even considered Ole Miss before that job change, but because of his personal relationship with Nix, he came on an official visit to Oxford last weekend. Liking what he saw, he gave a non-binding verbal commitment to the Rebels on Tuesday and plans to make it official on Feb. 6, the first day of football's official signing period.
