We begin today with a reality check: John Howard Vaught, who coached the Ole Miss Rebels to six Southeastern Conference championships and shares of at least three mythical national titles, never made more than $28,500 a year.
Today, in Oxford, Ole Miss will introduce its new football coach, Houston Dale Nutt, who will be paid at least $7.4 million over the next four seasons. That means Nutt, if he coaches all four years, will make approximately $35,576 a week.
Inflation or not, the cost of football coaches has skyrocketed, wouldn't you say?
