Ed Orgeron fired by Ole Miss

ESPN is reporting that Ole Miss coach Ed Orgeron has been fired.

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss Athletics Director Pete Boone announced here Saturday at noon that Ed Orgeron, who has served as head football coach of the Rebels for the last three years, is not being retained.

“Ed Orgeron will not be returning as head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels,” Boone announced at the press conference. “Chancellor (Robert) Khayat and I met with Coach Orgeron this morning. We thanked him for his tremendous work ethic, the energy and the commitment he gave Ole Miss.

Yeah that's my first thought. Ole Miss is not exactly the hot spot in the coaching world. They screwed up firing Cutcliff - just like Bama screwed up not hiring Sylvester.

The lower tier SEC team's have a tough row to hoe given the top tier teams coaches. Look at the divisions and coaches Tupperville, Miles, Saban, Croom in the West - Meyer, Richt, Spurrier, Fulmer in the East.

I'd think they've got to hope they can land a rising star from a FCS school or something like that.

You may be right but talk about an up hill battle - it could ruin a really good young coach. Whoever it is will have their hands full trying to win in a pretty tough conference (the best conference ). Ole Miss does have the best looking coeds in the conference
