OXFORD — Ole Miss will have its annual "blackshirt" scrimmage today, a full-contact matchup between offensive and defensive players that are either sitting out this season or low on the depth chart.
"The guys are looking forward to it, " Ole Miss coach Ed Orgeron said. "It gives the guys a chance to perform under game-type situations. It also gives me a good look at our team right before I go out to recruit."
Assistant coach Brad Villavaso will be in charge of the defense while assistant Joel Rodriguez will lead the offense.
Ole Miss has a bye this Saturday and will only practice twice this week - Tuesday and today. Orgeron said he'd give the players the weekend off to spend time with their families. The team will return on Monday to prepare for the Nov. 17 game against No.2-ranked LSU.
