Ole Miss ground game hard to figure

OXFORD — During the first quarter last Saturday, Ole Miss running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis sacrificed his body to block for his quarterback Seth Adams, crashing into a Georgia defender with wild abandon.

The physical price he paid was steep: two teeth and an eventual trip to the dentist's office.

But immediately after the play was over, Green-Ellis simply jogged to the sidelines, spit out some blood, and let the trainers take a peek at his swollen lip.

And just a handful of plays later, there was Green-Ellis, jogging back onto the field. He would finish with 108 rushing yards and a touchdown on 22 carries.

"It scared me just looking at him, but it's a rough game," Adams said. "... Ben's an SEC running back and he's a tough, hard-nosed runner and it doesn't surprise me."

Green-Ellis just shrugged his shoulders when asked about his physical toughness, saying it's simply what's necessary if the Rebels want to improve a rushing offense that's currently last in the SEC with two touchdowns and 119 yards per game.

The Georgia game was a step in the right direction. Green-Ellis and backup running back Bruce Hall rushed for the majority of the Rebels' 156 yards.
"It's good to see BenJarvus get back into the action," Orgeron said. "I thought our offensive line blocked a lot better and the protection looks good."
