OXFORD — Tim Tebow, with his crew cut, sweaty uniform, bloody elbows and 235 pounds of chiseled muscle, looked almost like a young Larry Csonka, circa 1970, walking off the field here Saturday.

Tebow was the last Gator to enter the visitors' tunnel beneath Vaught-Hemingway and there to greet him were a passel of young Ole Miss fans, wearing red and blue colors and Colonel Reb stickers. "I touched him!" one of the fans hollered. "Hey, I touched Tim Tebow!"

Join the crowd, buddy. Ole Miss Rebels touched him all day. Matter of fact, they took their best shots at him.

"We peppered him, and we peppered him good," Ole Miss defensive coordinator John Thompson would say.

They did. But Tebow picked, powered and slithered his way through the Ole Miss defense for a Florida quarterback record of 166 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries. He threw for 261 yards and two more touchdowns.

The Ole Miss Rebels fought their rear ends off Saturday before losing 30-24.

They were, in a word, Tebowed.

Somebody asked 220-pound Ole Miss linebacker Ashlee Palmer if hitting Tebow was like hitting a big fullback.

"No sir," Palmer answered, shaking his head. "He's like hitting a big lineman. He's the biggest quarterback I've ever seen."
